I was really lucky to enjoy my first year at SXSW as the official photographer for M for Montreal again. Prior to the showcase, they hosted a well-attended poutine party on the rooftop of Maggie Mae’s.
Below: Masses of people in line for a taste of some delicious poutine. M for Montreal founder Sébastien Nasra (bottom right) got a little crazy with the gravy.
After we had our fill of curds and fries we were treated to spectacular performances of all genres. Some of the bands I had seen before at M for Montreal last fall, others were new to me. Everyone was amazing, particularly the French-Canadian hip hop group, Alaclair Ensemble.
I was also excited to see my photos from M for Montreal last year on printed materials throughout the showcase (pictured below).

Alaclair Ensemble was one of the bands I hadn't seen prior to this showcase and I was pretty blown away. Seeing them live was really something else; imagine early Beastie Boys but in Frenglish. You kinda just have to see it to understand.
