Wildfire
2020 update: I've expanded this project to include all of my landscape photography. I will be donating all profits from prints sold to the Red Cross wildfire recovery program. You can view those prints here.
I learned first hand the very real threat and devastation of wildfires shortly after moving to L.A. Typically they don't happen near where I live (minus the recent Skirball fire.) Luckily so far the only impact I've had to deal with is just cleaning ashes around my house.
I started editing photos I'd taken in and around areas that have now been impacted by wildfires and creating surrealistic fire scenes in them with Photoshop. It's just a thing I did to occupy myself while admittedly feeling pretty helpless to do anything about the fires that were and still are claiming homes and even lives. I've been preoccupied with exactly how the fires start, and what the very beginning of a massive wildfire could look like. That is what inspired these photos.
